The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw four major terrorist attacks carried out by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — also known as the Pakistani Taliban — in multiple locations in the past 48 hours. The attacks resulted in four Police personnel killed and 36 security forces personnel injured — including 27 Police personnel, two Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel and seven Frontier Corps soldiers — while seven civilians were also injured in these attacks. Additionally, 16 Taliban militants were also killed while carrying out the attacks.
On the night of Tuesday, 14 July, Taliban militants attacked a joint Army-Frontier Corps post in the Shalozan area near Parachinar in Upper Kurram Tehsil, Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A Taliban militant was killed and seven Frontier Corps soldiers were injured during the clash, which continued into the morning of the next day. Armed local Turi tribesmen also took part in the fighting alongside security forces against the militants. On Wednesday, 15 July, Taliban militants carried out a major terrorist attack targeting security forces in the Laram Ghar area within the jurisdiction of Khal Police Station, Lower Dir District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Three Police personnel were killed and 19 personnel — including 17 Police officials and two CTD officials — were injured. Five Taliban militants were also killed in retaliatory fire by security forces personnel during the firefight, as reported by Farzana Shah (@Jana_Shah), insurgency warfare (@Pakilad3), Eagle Eye (@zarrar_11PK), Khorasan Ghag (@Khorasanghag_), Vineet (@cozyduke_apt29) and Military_gore_pakistan (@unknownb6as) on X. The deceased personnel were identified as Riaz Khan, Moheeb Ullah and Bakht Boland Khan.
Separately, Taliban militants carried out a suicide bombing on Miryan Police Station in Bannu District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police Constable Noor Jamal was killed while 10 people — including six Police personnel and four civilians — were injured in the terrorist attack, while six Taliban militants including the suicide bomber were also killed in retaliatory fire from security forces personnel during the attack. Additionally, security forces arrested a Taliban facilitator linked with the attack shortly afterwards. Meanwhile, Taliban militants carried out another suicide bombing targeting a security forces checkpost in the Kari Kot Bazaar area of Wana Tehsil, South Waziristan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The bombing left four Police personnel injured, while two children were also injured when the explosion caused the roof of a mosque and a nearby house to collapse. The bombing also caused damage to shops in the area.
