On Thursday, 4 June, a serving Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Pakistan Army, Naib Subedar Muhammad Nabi, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the remote Nasbar Nallah (Naz Bar Nala) area in Ghizer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, as reported by The Pakistan News (@ThePakistanNews) on Telegram. The assailants were likely militants affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban — also known as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — who have been increasingly carrying out terrorist attacks in the administrative region of Gilgit-Baltistan in recent years.
Terrorist attacks have been intensifying in the region of Gilgit-Baltistan in recent times. On 13 April, three Police personnel were killed and four more were injured in a terrorist attack by suspected Taliban militants in the Thor Nala area of Chilas in Diamer District.
