Afghan-Pakistani War: Afghan Taliban forces fire artillery across the Pak-Afghan border into Pakistani territory on separate incidents

Forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan carried out artillery strikes across the Pak-Afghan border into the territory of Pakistan on two separate occasions. The strikes hit civilian infrastructure on Pakistan’s side of the border, though no casualties were reported.

On the night of Sunday-Monday, 19-20 April, Afghan forces launched artillery strikes across the border into Pakistan on the Chaman-Wesh border between Kandahar Province and Afghanistan, Iftikhar Firdous (@IftikharFirdous) reported on X. The artillery strikes were followed by a heavy exchange of fire between both sides, Pakistani officials confirmed. No casualties were reported in this incident.

Separately on Wednesday, 22 April, locals reported that an artillery shell fired from Kunar Province of the Afghan side struck a civilian house in the Laghari area of Bajaur District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the Pakistani side of the border, Mahaz (@MahazOfficial1) reported on X. The artillery strike caused structural damage to the house, though no civilian casualties were reported in the incident.

The war between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime continues with low intensity despite a relative lull in the fighting. The war has resulted in the deaths of a few dozen Pakistani soldiers, tens of Pakistani civilians, over 1000 Taliban soldiers and over 200 Afghan civilians. Thousands more have also been injured in the fighting that has occurred since the war began on 26 February of this year.
