    958 killed, 502 injured, 160 abducted/missing/arrested in war on terror in Pakistan in month of July

    The month of July 2026 has been unusually deadly in the ongoing War on Terror in Pakistan, especially for personnel of Pakistan’s security forces. Overall, the past month saw at least 958 people killed, 502 injured, and 160 abducted, missing or arrested in the ongoing war on terror in Pakistan and its spillovers into neighboring countries over the course of the month. The details of the casualties are as follows:

    SECURITY FORCES

    163 security forces personnel were killed, 277 were injured, and 21 were abducted by militants or went missing (of whom 1 was killed and 15 were safely recovered). Province-wide breakdown is as follows:

    KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA

    • 69 killed in action — 34 Police personnel, 17 Army soldiers, 14 Frontier Corps soldiers, 3 Customs personnel, 1 Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel
    • 156 injured — 80 Police personnel, 46 Army soldiers, 27 Frontier Corps soldiers, 2 CTD personnel, 1 Customs personnel
    • 16 abducted/missing — 14 Police personnel (all safely recovered), 2 Frontier Corps soldiers

    BALOCHISTAN

    • 93 killed in action — 39 Police personnel, 30 Frontier Corps soldiers, 20 Army soldiers, 3 Coast Guard personnel, 1 ASF personnel
    • 119 injured — 72 Frontier Corps soldiers, 25 Army soldiers, 14 Police personnel, 8 Coast Guard personnel
    • 5 abducted/missing — 3 Excise/Customs personnel, 2 Police personnel (1 killed, 1 safely recovered)

    SINDH

    • 1 killed in action (Police)
    • 2 injured (CTD)

    MILITANTS/INSURGENTS/TERRORISTS

    At least 648 militants were killed during the same period, mostly within Pakistan’s own borders. These include 340 BLA militants and 308 Taliban militants. Another 55 were injured and 102 more were arrested by authorities. Province-wise breakdown is as follows:

    KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA

    • 248 militants killed (Taliban)
    • 12 militants injured (Taliban)
    • 65 militants arrested (Taliban)

    BALOCHISTAN

    • 399 militants killed (340 BLA, 59 Taliban)
    • 42 militants injured (BLA)
    • 16 militants arrested (BLA)

    SINDH

    • 20 suspected militants and facilitators arrested (17 Taliban, 2 BLA, 1 SRA)

    PUNJAB

    • 1 suspected militant arrested (unspecified, allegedly linked with R&AW as per security sources)

    Elsewhere, 4 militants (3 BLA, 1 Taliban) were killed in Afghanistan while 2 others (BLA) were killed in Iran, one of whom was killed by the Iranian authorities. A BLA militant was also injured in Afghanistan.

    CIVILIANS

    The month was also costly for civilian life, as 147 civilians were killed, 170 more were injured and 37 more were abducted by militants. Details are as below:

    KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA**

    • 58 killed (8 by cross-border Afghan Taliban fire)
    • 90 injured (14 by cross-border Afghan Taliban fire)
    • 4 abducted/missing (1 safely recovered)

    BALOCHISTAN**

    • 89 killed
    • 80 injured
    • 33 abducted/missing (6 killed, 10 safely recovered)

    ** includes casualties among pro-government militias like the Peace Committees and Village Defense Committees (VDC)
