At least nineteen people were killed and thirteen more were injured in multiple incidents that occurred during the ongoing border war between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime on 22–27 April. The fatalities include five Pakistani soldiers, eleven Afghan Taliban soldiers and three Pakistani civilians, while thirteen Pakistani civilians were injured.
On Wednesday, 22 April, a Frontier Corps soldier identified as Kareem Ali was killed in a suspected quadcopter drone strike that struck the Salala 1 border post in Bajaur District. The quadcopter drone strike was carried out by Taliban regime forces, Pakistani Markhor (@Markhor_Paki) reported on X.
On Thursday, 23 April, a border clash was reported to have erupted between Afghan Taliban and Pakistani border forces along the border between the Goshta District of Nangarhar Province (on the Afghan side) and Mohmand District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (on the Pakistani side). Similarly, fighting was reported at the border in the area of Kurram District, as Lal Wazir (@lalwazir19) reported on X.
On Sunday, 26 April, fighting was reported between Afghan Taliban and Pakistani border forces along the border in the areas of Bajaur and South Waziristan, Mahaz (@MahazOfficial1) reported on X. Mortar shells fired from the Afghan side were reported to have landed in civilian areas in South Waziristan, especially in the Angoor Ada area which led to four civilians — including three women — being injured, including a man named Rahimullah, his wife and the wife of another resident Zainullah. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby medical center for medical assistance, as reported by The Khyber Chronicles (@TKCkhyber) and War Analyst (@War_Analysts) on X.
On the same day, Pakistani border forces launched artillery strikes and quadcopter drone strikes on Afghan Taliban border posts across from the Angoor Ada area of South Waziristan District. The strikes came after Taliban shelling injured civilians, as Iftikhar Firdous (@IftikharFirdous) reported on X.
On Monday, 27 April, four Frontier Corps soldiers were killed when Taliban forces carried out an attack on a border post in the Chaman area in Balochistan across the border. The attack took place across from the Spin Boldak area of Afghanistan’s Kandahar Province. Among the deceased soldiers was Hafeez ur-Rehman Khattak from Jabar area of Kohat District, reported by KP FrontLine (@KPFrontLine) on X. Separately, Pakistani forces carried out retaliatory artillery strikes on Taliban border posts across the border from Chaman area, killing eleven Taliban soldiers, as reported by War Analyst (@War_Analysts) on X. Meanwhile, multiple unknown explosions occurred in Afghanistan’s Kunar Province, as reported by Mahaz (@MahazOfficial1) on X.
On the same day, multiple areas of Bajaur District were struck by Afghan Taliban artillery shelling. These include the areas of Charmang in Nawagai Tehsil and Batwar area of Salarzai Tehsil as reported by Mudassir Khattak (@mr_khattak2004) on X, as well as the areas of Laghari Bazaar and Kitkot in Mamund Tehsil. A child who was a school student, and son of a Class-4 employee of a government high school in the area, was injured, while the shelling caused damage to shops and other property belonging to locals, as reported by Mahaz (@MahazOfficial1) and Jawad Yousafzai (@JawadYusufxai) on X.
On the same day, artillery shelling by the Afghan Taliban struck civilian areas in the Akakhel area of Bara Tehsil, Khyber District. The shelling resulted in the deaths of a woman and a young girl, while seven civilians were also injured in the shelling, of whom two received very critical injuries. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical assistance, as reported by Lal Wazir (@lalwazir19) and Jawad Yousafzai (@JawadYousufxai) on X.
Separately on the night of Monday, Afghan Taliban border forces fired artillery shells on civilian areas in the Muhammad Hassan village in the district of Chaman in Balochistan. The shelling struck the house of Dost Muhammad, leading to the death of a civilian man identified as Rafiullah, while his brother Naqeebullah was seriously injured and subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, Mahaz (@MahazOfficial1) reported on X.
