An unknown armed individual attacked two men in the district of South Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing one and injuring the other, Jawad Yousafzai (@JawadYusufxai) reports on X.
The attack occurred in the area of Sirki Kot in the district of South Waziristan earlier today on Monday, 20 April. The deceased man was identified as Muhammad Aslam while the injured man was identified as Noor Aslam. Noor Aslam was later shifted to a medical facility for treatment. The two men were brothers, and were government employees: Muhammad Aslam worked in the Health Department while Noor Aslam was an SDO in the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
No group claimed responsibility for the attack, however terrorist groups including the Pakistani Taliban and the Islamic State (also known as Daesh) have been increasingly carrying out targeted killings against civilians and security officials (including on-duty and off-duty officials) throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including South Waziristan, in recent years.
