A TTP militant killed, two injured in counter-terrorism operation in Bannu

A TTP militant was killed while two more were injured during a successful counterterrorism operation conducted by security forces in Bannu District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The Khyber Chronicles reports.

According to security officials, the operation was launched on Saturday, 18 April, in the Azam Market area of Baka Khel Tehsil on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur (HGB) faction of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) in the area. Security forces personnel acted promptly and engaged the militants in a targeted operation to eliminate them and to restore peace in the area.

During the ensuing exchange of fire, at least one TTP militant was killed and two more were injured. Security forces retained control of the area to ensure no harm was done to civilians or the infrastructure. Following the exchange of fire, security forces personnel conducted further operations to confirm that there were no militants left in the area. Afterwards, authorities stated that the situation was brought under control and normalcy was restored in the area, The Khyber Chronicles iterates.

Authorities reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations would continue against terrorist elements threatening the peace and security of the area, and also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and the safety of civilians.
